Vi presentiamo in esclusiva per Comicus, un'intervista a Fleur Van Eeden, che ha lavorato come controfigura dell'attrice Olivia Thirlby in Dredd, l'adattamento cinematografico diretto da Pete Travis e interpretato da Karl Urban.

Come sei stata coinvolta nel film di Dredd? Hai sostenuto un provino?
Ho lavorato per la Piranha Stunts in un sacco di film e loro sono stati ingaggiati per Dredd. Quindi mi hanno semplicemente reclutato e chiesto di incontrarli insieme al regista di Dredd. Ho avuto il lavoro di controfigura di Anderson immediatamente.

In questo film sei la controfigura di Olivia Thirlby, giusto? Com’è stato lavorare con lei?

Esatto, sono stata la controfigura di Olivia. È stato magnifico, è probabilmente l’attrice più simpatica di cui io abbia mai fatto la controfigura fino a oggi. È molto facile lavorare con lei, sa che sei lì per lei, non per te stessa. Che sei lì solamente per farla apparire meglio durante tutte le grandi scene d’azione. Sono finita pure a fare la controfigura di MaMa (Lena Heady). Sono stati davvero molto sorpresi. Ho fatto alcune acrobazie davvero grandiose nei suoi panni.

Cosa puoi raccontarci del regista, Pete Travis, Karl Urban e Lena Headey?

Sono tutti e tre magnifici. Karl è molto pacato, fa le sue cose tranquillamente ed è sempre gentile con chiunque. Pete, sul set, è come un’ape indaffarata. Tutto il tempo su e giù a fare il suo lavoro. Lena…Beh, la adoro! Che donna! Mi ha fatto ridere un sacco, soprattutto in quest'occasione: Karl mi doveva lanciare nei panni di Lena attraverso una spessa lastra di vetro. E quando sono atterrata, avevo dei piccoli pezzi di vetro attaccati addosso. Quindi mi hanno portato via in fretta per farmi spogliare dei vestiti per rimuovere i vetri, e Lena è venuta con noi. E mentre eravamo nella stanza con il medico, mi hanno levato il top e lei ha detto: “O mio dio, che addominali! Se dovessi tirare i miei muscoli dello stomaco per apparire così, me la farei nelle mutande.” La amo.

Per quanto tempo hai lavorato a Dredd?

Ho lavorato a Dredd a tempo pieno. Dall’inizio alla fine. Sono stati circa 5 mesi. Ho fatto la controfigura di Lena e Olivia e di un’altra attrice sudafricana per le scene in moto e poi sono stata me stessa nei panni di diversi personaggi circa altre 5 volte.

Prima dell’inizio delle riprese, suppongo tu debba allenarti. Hai fatto lo stesso per Dredd? E se sì, come è stato questo allenamento?

Beh, mi alleno sempre. Per quel che riguarda il fitness. Sono un’accanita ciclista e runner. Abbiamo fatto circa due settimane di pre-allenamento per Dredd e sul set ci siamo allenati tutto il tempo. L’allenamento è stato per la maggior parte allenamento di tipo militare con Dan Hirst.

Puoi raccontarci, senza rivelare troppo riguardo alla storia, un momento divertente durante le riprese?

MMMMMMM, difficile. Sono stati tutti momenti magnifici.

Hai qualche altro lavoro in cantiere? Adesso sei in Mad Max?

Al momento sono al lavoro in un sacco di pubblicità a Cape Town. E sì, ho lavorato a Mad Max per circa sette settimane.

How did you get involved with Dredd's movie? Did you have to audition?

I work for Pyranha stunts a lot on movies and they got the job for Dredd.  So they just called me up and asked if I can come see them and the Director of Dredd.  I got the job to Double Anderson immediately.

In this movie you are Olivia Thirlby stunt double, right? How was it working with her?

That is correct, I was Olivia’s stunt double.  It was amazing, she is probably the nicest actress ive doubled this far.  She’s so easy to work with and knows you there for HER, NOT for yourself.  Only there to make her look better at the big stunt stuff.  I did end up doubling MaMa ( Lena Heady) as well.  They really came to a big surprise.  Did some really great stunts for her.

What can you tell us about the director, Pete Travis, about Karl Urban and Lena Headey?

All 3 of them are amazing.  Karl is very quiet and just does his thing and always friendly to everyone around.  Pete is like a busy beeee on set.  Constantly up and down doing his job.  LENA…Well, I adore her!!!!!!!  What a women.  She made me laugh so much.  This made me laugh so much: I had to get thrown through a massive glass panel for Lena by Karl.  And as I landed, I got smaal little pieces of glass stuck in me.  So they rushed me off to take my clothes off to remove the glass, well Lena came with.  And as we were in the room with the medic, they took my top of and she said “Oh my word those abs!!!! If I had to pull my stomach muscles to look like that, I’ll poo in my pants”  I LOVE her!!!!!!!

How much time did you work on Dredd?

I was on Dredd full time.  Beginning to end.  It was about 5 months.  I doubled, Lena and Olivia and another SA actress for the motorbike scenes and then I was myself in different characters about another 5 times

Before the start of the shoots, I guess you had to train. Did you do it for Dredd too? And if so, what is this training about?

Well, I always train.  Fitness wise.  I’m a keen mountain biker and run.  We had about 2 weeks pre training for Dredd and on set training right through.  The training was mostly military training with Dan Hirst.

Can you tell us, and without revealing too much about the story, a funny moment during the shooting?

MMMMMMM, difficult.  All amazing moments

Any other work in progress? You are in Mad Max...

On a lot of commercials at moment in Cape Town.  And yes I was on Mad Max for about 7 weeks.
