Intervista a Darren Kendrick, attore e stunt in Thor

Vi presentiamo un'intervista all'attore Darren Kendrick, che in Thor interpreta il ruolo di Jotun Sentry, oltre ad aver lavorato anche come controfigura nella pellicola diretta da Kenneth Branagh e interpretata da Chris Hemsworth.

Come sei stato coinvolto nel film di Thor? Hai dovuto fare un provino?

Sono stato chiamato per un’audizione. Tutti noi non sapevamo nulla di cosa ci sarebbe toccato, sapevamo solo che si trattava di Thor. Quello bastava a farci andare su di giri. Per l’audizione abbiamo dovuto leggere una particina e poi eseguire alcuni movimenti con grosse e potenti armi. Molte delle persone presenti al provino erano alte oltre 1 metro e 90.

Cosa puoi dirci di questa tua esperienza, del regista Kenneth Branagh e del resto del cast? Quali sono state le tue prime impressioni sugli approcci ed i metodi utilizzati da Kenneth Branagh?

È stato fantastico lavorare con Kenneth Branagh. È un attore-regista. Riguardo l’esperienza, è stata grande. A volte lavoravamo per lunghe ore, altre volte ci svegliavano alle 3 di mattina per lunghe sedute di trucco. Il cast era il massimo dei massimi, ognuno si è divertito un sacco e gli è piaciuto ciò che stava facendo, questo sono sicuro, verrà fuori nel prodotto finale.

Quanto tempo hai lavorato su Thor?

Ho lavorato su Thor per quasi cinque mesi. Ci siamo allenati per due mesi e mezzo come stuntman prima, esperienza straordinaria, e quindi per il resto abbiamo lavorato alle riprese.

Hai lavorato in molte produzioni indipendenti. Quali sensazioni hai provato nel partecipare a una grande produzione come Thor?

Mi sento baciato dalla fortuna per aver potuto partecipare ad una produzione così sensazionale. Thor è certamente un grande passo avanti rispetto ai film indipendenti, ma ha dato anche il via ad altri progetti, per cui gli sono riconoscente.

Stando a imdb, in questo film hai lavorato anche come stunt. Cosa puoi dirci di questo aspetto del tuo lavoro?

Questa è stata la parte migliore e la più divertente. Ha comportato diverse sequenze di combattimenti e battaglie...

Cosa si prova ad indossare un’armatura di Asgard?

Chi dice che io indossi un’armatura di Asgard? Dovete aspettare e vedrete…

Quali sono i tuoi prossimi progetti?

Dopo Thor ho lavorato su I Am Number Four.  Attualmente sto preparando un programma pilota per la TV che inizieremo a girare a maggio ed inoltre sto lavorando ad una cosa divertente per il web.

How did you get involved in Thor? Did you have to auction for it?

I was asked to audition. We had no idea of what to expect at the audition, we just knew it was for "THOR". That alone was very exciting. For the audition we had to read some of the lines and then we had to do some movement with weapons, big and powerful. Most of the people that auditioned were 6'4 and over.

What can you tell us about this particular experience? And about the director, Kenneth Branagh, and the other members of the cast? What were your first impressions about Branagh's approaches and methods?

It was amazing to work with Kenneth Branagh. He is a actor's director. About the experience it was a great one. We worked sometimes long hours sometimes and had 3 am call times sometimes due to the extensive make-up. The cast was top notch, everyone had a great time and enjoyed what they were doing, which I am sure will show in the final product.

How much did you work on Thor?

I worked on Thor for about 5 months.  We had 2 and a half months of stunt training first, which was an amazing experience and the rest of it we were shooting..

You worked on many independent productions. What did you feel in taking part in such a big production like Thor?

I feel blessed to have been a part of such an amazing production. Thor was definitely a big step from the independent film's, but it as led to other projects, which I am grateful.

According to imdb you also work as a stunt in the movie. What can you tell us about this aspect of your job?

This part was the best and most fun. It involved a lot of fight sequences and battles...

How does it feel to wear an Asgardian Armour?

Who say's I wear Asgardian Armour?  That you will have to wait and see..

What about your future projects?

After Thor  I worked on I Am Number Four. Right now I am producing a Pilot for TV, that we start shooting in May and also I am working on Comedy stuff for the web.
