X-Men: Le Origini - Wolverine: Troye Sivan

 

 

Come sei stato coinvolto in questo film? Conoscevi già il personaggio di Wolverine, dai fumetti o dai film precedenti?

Sono stato trovato su YouTube dal mio manager, grazie a un video in cui cantavo. In seguito lui ha ricevuto l’annuncio di audizione per “Wolverine” e me l’ha inviata. L’ho filmata con mia madre nella nostra casa, l’ho mandata per e-mail e tutto è andato bene, ho avuto la parte. Naturalmente avevo già sentito parlare di Wolverine! Non solo quello, ma ero anche un grande fan della trilogia [cinematografica] degli X-Men in generale.
 
Per quello che ci puoi dire, quanto delle origini del personaggio è fedele alle origini raccontate nel fumetto?

Ci sono tantissime opinioni sul passato di Wolverine, e il fumetto rappresenta una di quelle. Io penso che questo film colga un frammento da ognuna.

Da ciò che si vede nel trailer, anche tu avrai un bel set di artigli. Che esperienza è stata quella di ritrovarsi con quelle armi attaccate alle mani?

All’inizio è stato abbastanza spaventoso, erano veramente taglienti! Avevo paura di accoltellare qualcuno. Ma più di tutto, era grandioso! Ho sempre voluto un superpotere, e finalmente l’ho avuto.

Quali sono le emozioni dominanti in Logan nella sua infanzia? E come scatta la rabbia? Che trasformazione avviene in quel momento dentro di lui?

Logan è un bambino malato, e penso che più di ogni altra cosa sia confuso da quello che gli sta succedendo. Ma ci vuole un evento particolare per far sorgere la rabbia incontrollata e, per la prima volta, far uscire gli artigli di Logan.

Ti sei confrontato con Hugh Jackman per definire il personaggio? Avete parlato della sua evoluzione?

Ho visto Hugh girare per il set, pranzare, ecc., ma non abbiamo parlato molto del personaggio, giusto qualche conversazione casuale qua e là.

E cosa ci puoi dire del modo di lavorare di Gavin Hood, del suo approccio ai personaggi? Che impressione ne hai avuto?

Avere Gavin come regista è stata davvero una delle cose migliori che mi potessero accadere. Sia lui che io siamo ex-sudafricani, e siamo andati d’accordo all’istante. Era incredibilmente creativo, generava un ambiente molto rilassato sul set, e ci metteva estremamente a nostro agio. Secondo me, il suo approccio ai personaggi era brillante, avendo dato ad ognuno di essi e al film in generale una sensazione davvero realistica.

Questa è stata la tua prima grande produzione: cosa ne hai ricavato in termini di esperienza? E cosa speri ti riservi il futuro?

Questa è stata davvero l’esperienza più grandiosa che io abbia mai avuto. Per il futuro mi piacerebbe andare avanti con la recitazione, e continuare a progredire nella mia carriera.

How did you get involved in this film? Did you already know Wolverine character from comic books or the previous films?

I was actually found by my manager on YouTube, on a video of me singing. He later recieved the “Wolverine” audition and sent it over to me. I filmed it with my mom in our house, sent it via e-mail, and it all just worked out, I got the part. Of course I had heard of Wolverine! Not only that, but I was a huge fan of the X-Men trilogy in general.
 
As long as you know, how much of the character origins in the film is faithful to the ones described in the comic book?

There are so many opinions of Wolverine's past and the comic book is one of them, and I think this film takes a snippet out of each.

From what we can see from the trailer, you're provided with a cool set of claws. What was it like to find yourself with those weapons stuck to your hands?

At first it was pretty scary, and they were really sharp! I was worried about stabbing someone. But more than anything, it was awesome! I have always wanted a super power, and finally I got one.

What are the dominants feelings in Logan's childhood? And how does the anger rise? What kind of transformation happens inside him in that moment?

Logan is a sick child, and I think more than anything is confused about what is happening to him. But it took a particular event to rise the berserker rage and, for the first time, cause Logan's claws to come out.

Did you consult with Hugh Jackman to define the character? Did you two talk about his evolution?

I saw Hugh walking around the sets, eating lunch etc. but we didn't talk about the character much, just a few casual conversations here and there.

What can you tell us about Gavin Hood's way of working? About his approach to the characters? What were your impressions?

Having Gavin as a director was really one of the best things that could have happened to me. Him and I are both ex-South Africans, and we instantly clicked. He was so creative, created a very relaxed vibe on set, and made us all extremely comfortable. In my opinion, his approach to the characters was brilliant, giving all of the characters and the film in general a very real feeling.

This has been your first big production: what did you get in terms of experience? What do you wish for your future?

This truly has been the greatest experience I have ever had. In the future I would love to carry on acting in films, and keep moving forward in my career.
