Benvenuto su Comicus, Christos, per parlarci di Avengers The Initiative!

Grazie per avermi invitato! Mi sto divertendo molto a scrivere questa serie e spero che i lettori la stiano apprezzando.

Il numero 20 sarà l'ultimo co-scritto con Dan Slott. Quali story line saranno risolte e quali continueranno durante la tua gestione?

Il numero 20 risolverà la questione di quale ruolo il vero Hank Pym avrà nell'Iniziativa, e rivelerà la vera identità di Mutant Zero. Molte altre storyline continueranno, ad esempio cosa è successo ad Hardball e Komodo, come cambierà l'Iniziativa ora che Norman Osborn ne è a capo e chi guiderà il team.

Un sacco di personaggi si sposteranno altrove: 3D-Man con la SKrull Kill Krew, War Machine sulla sua serie personale, Ant-Man nei Thunderbolts… Ce ne saranno di nuovi a riempire il vuoto?

Alla fine sì. Ma prima i personaggi restanti avranno un sacco di problemi tra le mani ed alcuni passati membri dell'Iniziativa ritorneranno. Justice ed i New Warriors originali! Ma saranno amici o nemici?

L'ultima volta che li abbiamo visti erano diventati "counter-force", per monitorare le azioni dell'Iniziativa. Considerando che la serie dei New Warriors sta per chiudere, c'è qualche possibilità che Justice e compagni riprendano il vecchio nome di battaglia?

C'è una buona probabilità che ciò accada.

È stata mostrata la cover di Avengers: The Initiative Special con un nuovo personaggio: Reptil. È una delle nuove reclute

Si, Reptil è una recluta nuova di zecca che sarà introdotta in quel numero. È stato creato graficamente da Humberto Ramos.

E quali delle vecchie reclute continueranno ad apparire nelle tue storie?

Una buona parte… Cloud 9 e Trauma ci saranno. Komodo si unirà alla Shadow Initiative alla ricerca di Hardball. Molti dei personaggi classici continueranno ad essere presenti.

L'ambientazione principale sarà sempre Camp Hammond?

Per ora… Ma potrebbe non esserci più un Camp Hammond quando la saga "Disassembled" sarà finita.

Che ruolo avrà l'iniziativa dei 51 Stati nel "Dark Reign" di Norman Osborn? Il titolo della prossima saga, "The Initiative Disassembled", non presagisce nulla di buono…

Per avere una risposta dovrete leggere la serie, ma è sicuro che le cose cambieranno significativamente… Norman è al potere ora, e metterà la sua impronta nell'Iniziativa.

La storia mostrerà lo scontro con il clone di Thor. Che ruolo giocherà?

Il clone di Thor, che prenderà il nome di Ragnarok, è stato nel quartier generale dell'Iniziativa per lungo tempo. Ora è libero, e non ha apprezzato l'essere stato prigioniero! Attaccherà l'iniziativa in quello che è probabilmente il momento peggiore, mentre si stanno riprendendo dall'Invasione Segreta.

Humberto Ramos si occuperà delle matite durante la saga. Che contributo ha dato alla serie?

Humberto è fantastico. Ho visto la prima manciata di tavole disegnate e sono grandiose. Ogni personaggio appare come unico e lui ha un meraviglioso talento nell'esprimere le emozioni delle persone. Sono molto eccitato di collaborare con lui.

Parlando di disegni: hai lavorato con l'italiano Mario Alberti su X-Men/Spider-Man con Mario Alberti (che noi di Comicus abbiamo intervistato poco tempo fa, ndr). Cosa ci puoi dire di questa esperienza?

È stato un grande piacere. I disegni di Mario Alberti sono splendidamente dettagliati, ma si ricorda sempre di raccontare la storia. Fa tutto lui, matite, chine e colori. Sono probabilmente alcuni degli albi più belli a cui abbia mai lavorato… e Mario è una grande persona. Ci siamo divertiti molto e spero che si veda nel nostro lavoro.

Welcome on Comicus Christos, to talk us about Avengers: The Initiative!

Thanks for inviting me! I've been having a great time writing this book, and I hope your readers have been enjoying it.

Issue #20 will be the last issue co-written with Dan Slott. Which story line will be resolved there and which ones will continue on your running?

Issue #20 will resolve the question of what role the real Hank Pym will have in the Initiative, and reveal the true identity of Mutant Zero. Many other storylines will continue on, like what is happening with Hardball and Komodo, how the Initiative will change now that Norman Osborn is in charge, and who is going to lead the team.

A lot of main characters are moving away: 3D-Man with the skrull Kill Krew, War Machine on his own series, Ant-Man with the Thunderbolts... There will be new Characters to bridge the "gap"?

Eventually, yes. But first the remaining characters have a lot of trouble on their hands, and some former Initiative members will be returning... Justice and the original New Warriors! But will they be friends or enemies?

The last time we have seen them, they became the "counter-force", monitor of the Initiative. Considering the New Warriors vol 4 is ending, there is any chance that justice and friends will take back the group name?

A very good chance!

It was just solicited an Avengers: The Initiative special featuring a new characters: Reptil. He is one of the new recruits?

Yes, Reptil is a brand new recruit who is being introduced in that issue. He was designed by Humberto Ramos.

And which of the old recruits will be around in your stories?

Most of them... Cloud 9 and Trauma will be there. Komodo will join the Shadow Initiative to go after Hardball. Many of the classic characters will still have a very big presence.

The main set will continue to be Camp Hammond?

For now... but there might not be a Camp Hammond by the time the Disassembled story is over!

What role the Fifty State Initiative will have in the Norman Osborn's "Dark Reign"? The title of the next saga, "The Initiative Disassembled",  don't foretell very "nice" future...

For the answer to that you'll have to read the book, but it's safe to say that things will be changing significantly... Norman is in charge now, and he will be putting his stamp on the Initiative.

This story will show the fight with Clor, Thor's Clone. What Role he will play?

The clone of Thor, who goes by the name Ragnarok, has been in a tube in the Initiative headquarters for a long time. Now he's free, and he doesn't appreciate having been kept prisoner! He will attack the Initiative at the worst possible time, when they're still recovering from Secret Invasion.

Ramos will provide the pencils during the saga. What contribution he gave to the book?

Humberto Ramos is fantastic. I just saw the first bunch of penciled pages and they look great! Every character looks unique and he has a wonderful talent for expressing his characters' emotions. I'm very excited to be collaborating with him.

Talking about art: you worked with the italian Mario Alberti on X-men/Spider-Man. What you can tell us about this experience?

It's been a great pleasure. Mario Alberti's art is beautifully detailed, but he always remembers to tell the story.  He does everything--pencils, inks and colors. It's probably one of the most beautiful books I've ever worked on... and Mario is a great guy as well. We've had a great deal of fun, and I hope it shows in the work.
