Sono state annunciate le candidature per la 72° edizione degli Emmy Awards. A dominare la scena troviamo il telefilm Watchmen con ben 26 nomination complessive, tra cui Miglior Miniserie e le candidature per i migliori attori a Regina King e a Jeremy Irons.

La fortunata serie Game of Thrones del network HBO che adatta ormai liberamente l'universo narrativo delle Cronache del ghiaccio e del fuoco creato da George R. R. Martin, è sempre stata una calamita per i premi internazionali, anche se, nel 2014, il franchise è rimasto un po' a secco di Awards. Ecco quindi che nel 2015 le vele si gonfiano ancora di più per farci dimenticare la secca precedente. Ben 12 premi agli Emmy Awards sono stati conquistati dal cast e dallo staff del fiore all'occhiello di HBO, tra cui molti nelle categorie più ambite come Migliore serie drammatica, Migliore attore non protagonista in una serie drammatica per Peter Dinklage e Miglior regia per una serie drammatica a David Nutter per il decimo e ultimo episodio della quinta stagione.
Questa serie quindi batte quindi due record: il maggior numero di Emmy conquistati in un'unica serata, 8 Creative Awards oltre ai 4 premiati nella serata di ieri, oltre a segnare la prima volta che una serie fantasy si è aggiudicata il maggior numero di premi dell'evento.

La Television Academy ha annunciato oggi le nomination per i 67° Emmy Awards, che si terranno in diretta il 20 settembre sulla Fox. Tra i candidati in lizza ci sono anche le principali serie TV di quest'anno inerenti al mondo del fumetto, come Daredevil di Netflix, che via abbiamo recensito qui, Gotham della stessa Fox, The Flash di The CW, Marvel's Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. della ABC, The Walking Dead della AMC e perfino la prima e ultima stagione di Constantine della NBC. Segnaliamo inoltre che Game of Thrones si porta a casa ben 27 nomination.
