Usicrà il prossimo mercoledì 18 aprile il tanto atteso Action Comics #1000, albo speciale di 80 pagine che celebrerà l'iconico personaggio DC Comics. CBR, ora, ha offerto in esclusiva la possibilità di leggere un'intera storia del volume, intitolata "Five Minutes" e realizzata da Louise Simonson e Jerry Ordway. Action Comics #1000 vedrà al proprio interno storie realizzate da Dan Jurgens, Pat Gleason e Peter J. Tomasi, Brian Michael Bendis e Jim Lee, Richard Donner/Geoff Johns/Oliver Coipel, Paul Dini/José Luis García-López, Tom King/Clay Mann/Jordie Bellaire, Brad Meltzer/John Cassaday/Laura Martin, Louise Simonson/Jerry Ordway, Scott Snyder/Tim Sale. Infine, Marv Wolfman scriverà una nuova storia basata sui disegni di Curt Swan.

Come noto, la storica serie Action Comics sta per toccare quota 1000 albi. L'evento sarà celebrato da un numero speciale di 80 pagine che vede la presenza di numerosi autori. L'albo, oltre alla regular cover di Jim Lee, avrà anche delle variant, ognuna dedicata a una decade. Le copertine verranno realizzate da Steve Rude (1930s), Michael Cho (1940s), Dave Gibbons (1950s), Michael Allred (1960s), Jim Steranko (1970s), Joshua Middleton (1980s) Dan Jurgens (1990s) e Lee Bermejo (2000s).

Brian Michael Bendis rilancerà Superman. Il primo incarico per la DC Comics, dopo la storia breve per Action Comics #1000 disegnata da Jim Lee, sarà Man of Steel (che ricorda quella anni '80 di John Byrne) una miniserie settimanale di sei numeri. La mini sarà illustrata da un team di artisti tra cui Ivan Reis, Evan "Doc" Shaner, Ryan Sook, Kevin Maguire, Adam Hughes e Jason Fabok. La serie, annunciata in un'intervista a Forbes, debutterà mercoledì 30 maggio; un preludio, illustrato da Jose Luis Garcia-Lopez, arriverà il 2 maggio nel catalogo d'anteprima DC Nation #0.

Dopo la miniserie, Bendis scriverà sia Superman che Action Comics. Il primo verrà rilanciata con un nuovo #1, mentre Action Comics continuerà la sua numerazione, con il primo numero di Bendis che sarà il #1001.
La storia che apparirà su Action Comics #1000 sarà importante e anticiperà la run dell'autore.

Oltre al suo lavoro su Superman, Bendis lancerà un'etichetta personalizzata per l'editore ancora senza nome ma ancorata saldamente nell'universo DC, "presenterà alcuni dei personaggi preferiti di tutti i tempi di Bendis in situazioni uniche e inusuali, combinate con nuovi personaggi creati appositamente per questa nuova impronta".

È stato anche annunciato che le serie di proprietà di Bendis - Jinx, Torso, Brilliant, ecc. - arriveranno alla DC Comics e saranno ristampate digitalmente in primavera. Powers, Scarlet e The United States of Murder torneranno tutti con nuovi numeri nel 2018, insieme a diversi nuovi progetti non annunciati.

Come ormai sapete, il prossimo 18 aprile uscirà l'albo Action Comics #1000 che celebrerà il personaggio di Superman e presenterà diverse storie e cover. L'albo avrà 80 pagine e costerà 7,99$. Contemporaneamente, uscirà anche il libro Action Comics #1000: 80 Years of Superman che avrà 384 pagine e costerà 29,99€. Il volume hardcover è curato dall'ex editor DC Paul Levitz e includerà una nuova storia originale di Levitz e di Neal Adams intitolata "The Game" e una storia di Superman di 12 pagine mai pubblicata di Jerry Siegel e del Joe Shuster Studio intitolata "Too Many Heroes".
